The Coyote Creek Flood Management Project, spanning approximately nine miles from Montague Expressway to Tully Road in San Jose, aims to mitigate flood risk to levels experienced on February 21, 2017—a 20-year, 5% flood event. Ghirardelli provides construction management for this project, which is Phase 1 of the Coyote Creek Flood Protection Project and part of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Order Compliance. The project involves installing 8,658 feet of sheet pile flood walls across seven locations, using the press-in method to minimize noise and vibration. Best management practices are extensively applied to prevent runoff into the creek. This project responds to a FERC mandate for the Santa Clara Valley Water District to enhance Anderson Dam’s discharge capacity, thereby lowering flood risk downstream. Ghirardelli provides construction management services for the CCFMMP, assembling a team with experienced staff and partners to ensure effective project execution, quality assurance, and environmental compliance, while also preparing to manage overlapping phases of the CCFPP.
