Ghirardelli performed a constructability review, comprehensive construction management, and public outreach services for a $6.8 million federally funded project for the City of West Sacramento. The project extends Riverfront Street as a two-lane roadway with sidewalks, lighting, and landscaping. The Riverfront Street roadway work includes excavating unsuitable material, installing sewer, storm, and water systems, new dry utilities, and constructing an infiltration system and joint plain concrete pavement roadway section. The project also widened 5th Street to add Class IV bike lanes, sidewalks, ADA ramps, and street lighting. Other work along 5th Street included the construction of new wet and dry utilities, new sewer lines, new water main and services, new storm drain systems, HMA roadway section, and modification of existing traffic signals. This project included heavy coordination with existing utility companies such as Kinder Morgan, PG&E, AT&T, and CCI to work around and relocate their facilities. The project was also within Caltrans right-of-way and under a cooperative agreement and double permit with Caltrans. Ghirardelli also successfully led the public outreach effort by setting up a phone line and email address to respond to the public’s questions and concerns. The Riverfront project was completed in January 2024 and without any safety incidents.
