Segment 3, Doolittle Subway U-Wall and Tunnel
BART, using Flatiron/Parsons Design Build, is building a connecting light rail track from the Coliseum Station to the Oakland Airport, with an elevated station at the OAC, incorporating at grade, elevated and tunnel track. Segment #3 pictured is the Subway Tunnel Segment, which extends from the SE side of Outbound Airport Drive, curving West under the Caltrans ROW, a 4 lane Doolittle Ave, to the NW side of Doolittle. Construction methods being used are drill and place Secant Piles for tunnel walls, CIP tunnel roof beams at existing grade, then excavate tunnel segment.
