Meet, Natasha DeBenon, Business Development Manager, Irvine Office
.
Tell us about your role with Ghirardelli.
.
"My job as a Business Development Manager is like being a crime investigator, but instead of a crime, you learn about a future opportunity, you investigate more for further detail on the opportunity, then having meetings with folks (clients, colleagues, etc.) and ask questions (as if you were finding more facts), and keep digging, asking until you have what you think to make a decision as to talk with more folks and or enough to move forward to say let’s pursue. Sometimes you find such a golden nugget of information you just say “oh, yeah” this is great! What a great feel-good moment—all that hard work paid off. It is all networking, getting to know people, becoming friends with people, and finding that information to move forward. I like the energy and release of adrenaline finding facts and information."

What do you like best about working in the Construction Industry?
.
"It’s just amazing when you see plans on paper, there are some many moving parts and so many people that have to communicate to one another and yet it somehow piece by piece it gets built! While I know it is challenging with some, there are many personalities that you get a chance to know with so many different people. I just love seeing it at its final."

Meet, Osbaldo (Oz) Mejia, Assistant Structures Representative, Bay Region
.
Oz is the Assistant Structures Representative currently working on the structure rehabilitation and the electrochemical chloride extraction of the Garrapata Creek Bridge. This project includes spall repair, ECE treatment, and silane waterproofing treatment.
.
What do you like best about working in the Construction Industry?
.
"I like that no two days are exactly the same, everyday the job-site brings new challenges that we work through together as a team, with the goal of delivering the project safely, timely, and per the project plans."
.

"I support the Altamont Corridor Express (ACE) as the Stockton Track Program Delivery Manager for the Valley Rail Program and the commission scheduler. I have three projects, the largest being the Stockton Diamond Grade Separation, which finishes in 2027."

"The construction industry is fast paced—always moving, always changing. There’s a feeling of accomplishment that goes with seeing yours and everyone else’s work come together in a new building or section of track. Along with that, I love the people I get to work with.
